Collaborating with Parents
Parents are very welcome to visit our early learning centre in Metford to share their skills with the children.
There are many lessons that children need to learn at an early age. In our learning centre, we focus on seven developmental programs that teach children the essential skills needed to succeed in life. Each program focuses on developing a specific skill that they will use in their future schooling.
Social DevelopmentForming friendships become more important to
children as they begin to learn about getting along with others.
A child’s ability to understand other people’s views and needs develops over time. Children need to learn social skills at an early age to give them a platform to develop these important skills which are so important in adult life.
Our Social development program involves teaching the skills and values that enable children to relate to others effectively. We teach them how to interact with their family and the community through their own special way. Through their growing awareness of social values and their friendship with other classmates, children will learn how to openly respond to the people around them in a polite manner.
Emotional DevelopmentBeing able to express, manage and understand
a broad range of emotions is integral in the development of a child.
Children who can understand their feelings and enjoy learning experiences are more likely to be curious and confident learners. With help from adults, they can develop the ability to regulate or adjust their behaviour to suit particular events.
We help children build resilience and coping skills that supports their mental health. If we see that they are feeling too overwhelmed in class, our staff will approach them and guide them in reframing unhelpful feelings and thoughts as they arise. We make sure that every child leaves our learning centre with a smile.
Physical Development Playing outdoors is one of the best activities
for promoting a child’s physical development.
Physical development mostly happens in childhood. It is a crucial time for body coordination and brain development to encourage walking, crawling, grasping and other common body movements. As children learn what their bodies can do, they gain self-confidence, which encourages exploration and new ways on how they can use their bodies.
We provide many opportunities for children to develop their emerging motor skills. In our learning centre, we give children the opportunity to play outdoors in a safe environment while being guided by our friendly staff.
Cognitive DevelopmentTeaching basic skills to children
at an early age helps them learn faster as they grow older.
Cognitive development involves constructing thought processes such as decision-making and problem solving. Developing cognitive skills at an early age is important in forming the foundation for many skills that children will need in later life.
We take extra care in choosing the right activities that boost critical thinking skills, memory and reasoning abilities. Whether it’s learning how to count to ten or remembering how to spell words, we develop children’s cognitive skills by teaching them skills that are needed in formal schooling.
Language/Literacy DevelopmentBroadening a child’s vocabulary
at an early age increases creativity and helps them express themselves better.
Language is the basis of allsocial interactions. Developing language skills is important for a child’s success later in life with regard to being a social being and pursuing an education.
We promote a fun learning environment where we read children’s books to young children and help them learn new words as we guide them while they read. We also use nursery rhymes and music to develop their language skills. We invite the parents to interact with the children for them to be more comfortable to speak to others in class.
Numeracy DevelopmentFamiliarising children with numbers
gives them the confidence to use maths in their life.
Mathematics is about learning concepts such as fractions, addition and measuring. However, numeracy involves understanding and being able to apply specific math skills such as measuring ingredients for a recipe.
We familiarise our students with numbers by teaching them how to count, read and spell out numbers. We also teach basic mathematical operations such as adding and subtracting single digits. It is important for students to develop their numerical skills for them to be capable of dealing with numbers in common situations such as telling time or dealing with money.
Creative DevelopmentEarly education focuses on children learning
creative abilities through playing with others in class.
A child’s creative abilities are explored through their curiosity and feelings towards the arts, music, imaginative play and more subjects. Developing a child’s creativity at an early age helps them enhance their physical, emotional and mental skills.
We provide opportunities for children to express their creativity with various educational materials that develop both gross and fine motor skills.
